Our Story

The summer of 2003 I met the love of my life Jason on I-75 service drive in Detroit you may say "what in the world", I say it was fate. We spent the entire evening on the phone discussing everything you could imagine, but then he "ghosted" me for almost two weeks (at least this is how I remember it). Once he returned from South Carolina we had our first date and have been inseparable ever since.

In 2010, we married and immediately started trying to conceive by consulting my gynecologist who prescribed clomid with no such we decided to see a RE. The RE recommended IUI  and performed multiple test to identify the possible reasons for infertility. After two failed IUI’s and no reason for infertility we decided IVF would be our best option. At this time Jason and I discussed adoption but decided to continue with IVF and prayed for success

In June 2013, we had our first IVF round and our first miscarriage this was devastating, somehow we pushed on to three more unsuccessful rounds. We decided to take a break I focused on physical, mental, spiritual and emotional healing. In 2016 we decided to move forward with adoption via fostering. Jason and I completed the application process and before we received our license the agency called us with a placement. We decided against the first placement but then three months later we met beans. Beans brought so much life to our home and so much grief. Our life was changed over the first year and half it was a rollercoaster with the foster care system. Our love for Beans spilled over to his mother and we wanted to see her succeed.

In June 2018, Monet entered our lives at the same time Beans was scheduled to exit. We were devastated with him leaving us, but we knew our love for him would be forever and needed to focus on Monet. She was a five year old who was mute for the past two years of her life. I spent the entire summer loving on her, teaching basic life skills, ABCs, counting, writing her name, and so many other things you learn from age 1thru 5. In August 2018, Beans was returned home and we prepared for Monet to attend kindergarten.

Although Beans was returned home he spent every weekend with us into March 2019 when we agreed with his mother to allow him to stay with us. This brings us to present day where Monet non-stop talks and has surpassed expectations in school. Beans just turned three and shares an unbreakable bond with Monet. Our family is complete in a nontraditional way but we are happy in love after infertility.
